Personal access tokens (PATs)

Personal access tokens (PATs) are secure tokens that authorize 3rd-party applications and users to perform tasks on behalf of the user who issued the token.

When creating a personal access token, the user is able to pick the actions, on a granular level, that this token authorizes others to perform. Moreover, the exact expiration date can also be set. Lastly, if any threat or malicious intent is expected, the token can be revoked immediately, giving the issuer complete control, and rendering malicous actors powerless.
